Government

Lawrence Township surrounds the City of Lawrence in the northeast corner of Marion County. The City of Lawrence Police and Fire Departments serve its nearly 48,000 residents in providing a safe community for people of all ages. Residents of the City of Lawrence elect two mayors:  mayor for the City of Lawrence and the Indianapolis mayor. The Lawrence library is located on Hague Road and Lawrence looks forward to the projected opening of a new branch in Historic Fort Harrison in 2019.
